Seda Demonstrates continued investment in people development as Lorraine Jones embarks on PIAT Master’s Course
Seda Scientist, Lorraine Jones, has begun studying her Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmaceutical Industry Advanced Training (PIAT) at the University of Manchester. Lorraine started the course in January 2022 as a distance learning part-time course and has been progressing through the materials. Throughout the course, Lorraine will focus on formulation design and development and project management. She joins Elen Roberts who enrolled on the same course in September last year (see blog post).
Lorraine joined Seda in September 2020 with over 20 years of high-quality laboratory experience in a major global pharmaceutical company and one of the world’s leading toxicology laboratories. With expertise in all stages of drug development, Lorraine brought a rich history in preclinical and clinical formulation development from her roles across Big Pharma and Biotechnology.
Lorraine wanted to further expand her knowledge around the pharmaceutical industry, particularly around late-stage development and manufacturing, making the PIAT Master’s course an ideal study programme. Lorraine is also hoping that studying project management units as part of the course will increase her confidence and ability to lead projects through the various stages of development.
Here at Seda we are dedicated to promoting personal development throughout the team, which in turn supports the growth of our capabilities and the range of high-quality services we can offer to our clients. Primarily, this is through experiential learning, where the pace and breadth of projects supported by Seda lends itself to on-the-job development. This is supplemented by self-directed learning, exposure to peers and senior mentors and coaches within the company, as well as through formal learning such as classroom training.
